Sonko, is not new when it comes to seeking publicity stunts and
courting controversies.
During Jamhuri Day celebrations, he was badly embarrassed by Chief of Defence forces, General Karangi, after he was stopped from receiving President Uhuru Kenyatta as he entered into the venue.
Sonko wanted
to join the military line-up to usher in the President into his armoured car
that he uses to go round the Stadium greeting members of the public.
But only the
Military officers are supposed to receive the President during National
Celebrations like Jamhuri.
Even Deputy
President William Ruto is not allowed to join the Military line-up.
However, it
seems Sonko is not aware of this and he went ahead to receive Uhuru but Karangi
stopped him.
The flamboyant
Senator wanted to take advantage of Kidero’s absence to play host but the Chief
of Defence Forces ended up spoiling his day.
He was forced to eat a humble pie and went to his designated seat.
