Director of Public Prosecutions strikes in case against a popular gospel singer:he did this

Wednesday, 28 October 2015 - The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has withdrawn charges preferred against popular Ugandan gospel singer Ambassada —real name Wycliffe Wamala who had been accused of being in possession of a stolen Ipad.

The prosecution withdrew the gospel artist’s case under section 87 A of the CPC which means that he can be rearrested and charged if the police link him to the robbery.

The new development comes barely weeks after a warrant of arrest was issued against Ambassada after he jumped bail.

The gospel star had been released on a cash bail of Kshs 40,000 after he was arraigned in court accused of being in possession of an iPad, valued at Sh65,000,  allegedly stolen from comedian Fred Omondi Owino of Hapa Kule News TV show.

Ambassada’s co-accused Evans Otieno Okondo, Isack Wangila Walubengo and Silas Manyonge Kasembeli however appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Lucas Onyina for the mention of their case. The prosecution preferred three more charges against them.
The case will be heard on November 12.
