Saturday, January 22, 2022 – Recently elected Juja MP George Koimburi has hinted at dumping Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s party for United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an outfit associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
According to a poster shared on his social media pages sensitizing residents to register as voters, Koimburi made it clear he was on his way to UDA.
In the poster, the lawmaker is branded by UDA colors, logo, and the name of the Deputy President suggesting that he will be defending his seat on a UDA ticket.
This comes barely months after Koimburi was elected on Moses Kuria’s People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).
In May 2021, Koimburi won the hotly contested Juja parliamentary seat following the death of former MP Francis Waititu alias Wakapee.
Koimburi garnered 12,159 votes to clinch the seat whereas Susan Njeri Waititu of the Jubilee party came a distant second after getting 5,746 votes.
Reports claim that Koimburi shifted the allegiance after learning that Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is planning to give his younger brother, Aloise Kinyanjui, the party ticket to contest for the Juja seat in the upcoming general election.
