Friday, February 11, 2022 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid has been dealt a major blow after one of his key lieutenants in Western Kenya dumped the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and joined Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a Facebook post after receiving him to UDA on Thursday, former Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale said Kakamega County ODM Chairman Vincent Mukhono has dumped the Orange party and joined the wheelbarrow movement.
“Thanking Ikolomani ODM leaders led by their chairman Mr. Vincent Mukhono for joining UDA.
“Honourable Mukhono was number two in the 2017 elections and is vying for MP Ikolomani 2022. The party is growing bigger each day,” Khalwale said
This is a big blow to Raila Odinga since Mukhono has been instrumental in ensuring that Raila Odinga gets the lion’s share of the presidential vote in Western Kenya.
