Friday, February 11, 2022 – Defence Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, has become the first member of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet to admit that it is Deputy President William Ruto who made Uhuru the president in 2013 and 2017.
However, Eugene, who was speaking on Thursday, said though it is Ruto, through the United Republic Party (URP), who made Uhuru the President, other parties were involved.
Wamalwa said it was wrong for the second in command to continue to take sole credit for Uhuru’s previous victories, noting that the President’s victories in 2013 and 2017 were collaborative efforts, but he participated more.
“He helped the President but other parties were also involved,” Wamalwa said.
Ruto said in Likuyani, Kakamega County on Tuesday that he made Uhuru president and that he had the right to succeed him as a Kenyan.
“The Jubilee government would not have been there if I had not been there, and that is the truth.
“Anyone who believes they can deny me the honor of succeeding him is wasting their time,” Ruto said.
