Friday, February 11, 2022 – The ODM party has been rocked with yet another scandal after it emerged that some aspirants have already been issued nomination certificates secretly.
This is after some well-connected members of ODM bragged that Raila Odinga had issued them with direct tickets to contest for various seats in August, something that brought tension among the ODM family.
However, in a statement yesterday, ODM allayed fears that some hopefuls had been issued with nominations certificates warning that those who would be found propagating lies will face the full wrath of the law.
“There are people (aspirants) some holding party positions going around their respective areas claiming that they already have nomination certificates for the August 9 General Election.”
“The ODM National Elections Board is warning such individuals to desist from misleading and disenfranchising other party members,” the party said in a statement posted on its official Twitter handle.
The party further said it is expected to discuss the nomination process under the Azimio Party and the NEB will share the agreed process after the conclusion of the negotiated agreement.
“This will provide better particulars on the dates when the primaries will take place in the different regions and Counties,”
While assuring hopefuls of a fair nomination exercise, the party further said it will hold a joint nomination with the ruling outfit Jubilee under the Azimio La Umoja umbrella.
The party stated that it was waiting for the outcome of the agreement among all other parties under the Azimio La Umoja banner, urging its supporters to register as party members.
