See how KIRAITU MURUNGI reacted after his challenger, PETER MUNYA, bolted out of the race at the last minute? He never expected this!

Friday, February 11, 2022 – Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi is in a celebratory mood following the decision by his main competitor and Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Peter Munya to bolt out of the race.

This is after he failed to resign from the Cabinet within the stipulated time after President Uhuru Kenyatta prevailed upon him not to go for the Meru governor’s seat.

In a statement, Murungi congratulated and thanked Munya for his decision to stay in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

He admitted that Munya’s decision had made his re-election straightforward as the CS was considered his toughest opponent.

“So for me as governor who was expecting him as my main competitor, I must say congratulations and thank you to him.

“It makes my work a bit easier,” Kiraitu said in a presser.

“We had planned a very elaborate campaign and you have heard me say before because this is going to be my last campaign.

“I was going to throw everything into it to ensure that I win again. So if my brother has made my life easier then this is a gift to me from God.”

Murungi similarly stated that he was looking forward to working with CS Munya in any capacity despite the pair having been pegged as rivals before.

“Even the bible says there is a time and a season for everything under the sun, so sisi tuko tayari kufanya kazi including with the CS himself and his supporters and we have no conditions,” Murungi said.
