Friday, March 18, 2022 – ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi may have committed political suicide by joining Deputy President William Ruto.
This is according to political analyst Herman Manyora, who opined that Mudavadi bid his political career goodbye over his decision.
Speaking during an interview, Manyora noted that so finished is Mudavadi that he cannot deliver the Luhya votes to Deputy President William Ruto in the coming August elections.
He noted that it will be difficult for Mudavadi to dislodge the ODM leader Raila Odinga from the Western region.
According to Manyora, Mudavadi cannot guarantee DP Ruto, 100 % of the Mulembe voting bloc, even if Ruto names him his running mate.
“Mudavadi may not bring you all the votes even if he was the running mate, Luhyas have had more than 3 vice presidents, it doesn’t excite them so much,” Munyora said.
The political commentator further noted that the ODM leader has already established a strong support base in the region, which cannot be shaken easily.
“Raila Odinga has his support base within the Western region which cannot change even if Mudavadi was running for presidency supported by Ruto, Raila would still get 40 % of Luhya votes,” Manyora stated.
At the same time, Manyora said it would be suicidal for DP Ruto to name the ANC leader his running mate for the forthcoming presidential elections.
According to Manyora, such a move will give President Uhuru Kenyatta an easy time in delivering Mt Kenya votes to the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
“For Ruto, it is complicated, if he gives Mudavadi (running mate), he is roasted.
“President Uhuru will have a field day in delivering Mt Kenya,” Manyora said.
