Friday, March 18, 2022 – The Kikuyu council of elders has threatened to curse Deputy President William Ruto over his continued attacks against President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto and his brigade have been firing salvos at the head of state in their political rallies over the recent past and today they have gone ahead to insult the president in his own bedroom in Gatundu South, something that has infuriated the elders.
The elders called on their counterparts in the Rift Vale region to call their son (Ruto) to order, failure to which they will take stern action against him.
Led by Wachira wa Kiago and Ndung’u Gaithuma (Kiama Kiama), the elders said that Ruto is too ambitious in his presidential bid, a move they termed as worrying because it could easily lead to bloodshed during and after the August 9 elections.
“The Kikuyu community resolves that we will not tolerate any acts or utterances that could lead to bloodshed and destruction of life and property. We urge all Kenyans to reject incitement to violence and disorder for political reasons,” the elders said.
While defending President Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to endorse his handshake partner for the presidency, the elders said the UDA presidential flag bearer should learn patience from the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has unsuccessfully vied for the presidency four times.
The elders warned Ruto against inciting the residents of Mt Kenya region against their kingpin, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The deputy president has shown his real identity and he should stop inciting the people of Mount Kenya region during his campaign rallies,” Wachira said.
