Friday, February 10, 2023 – Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka landed himself in trouble yesterday during the Azimio retreat in Machakos.
This is after he attempted to intercede for Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, following their betrayal on Tuesday after they met with President William Ruto at State House despite Raila Odinga declaring Ruto and his government illegitimate.
Speaking during the meeting that was meant to stem the fallout after Jalang’o and his friends pledged loyalty to Ruto, Kalonzo begged Raila to give them a second chance.
He asked the former PM to forgive Jalang’o, who he also accused of going against coalition wishes and political stand.
“You cannot cannibalise democracy in this country, not under the 2010 constitution. When someone wants to say sorry, please don’t throw them out,” Kalonzo noted.
However, the attendees protested Kalonzo’s comments, but the Wiper leader stood his ground that Jalang’o and his friends should be given a second chance by the ODM Party.
Raila had called on Jalang’o and his friends to resign from ODM immediately and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate, calling them political prostitutes
“The Members of Parliament who defected need to resign and go, and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate” Raila ordered.
“Very cheap, unprincipled for a political party to say after the election you are now resigning and going to join the coalition that you ran against. That is political prostitution,” Raila cautioned.
He termed the MPs who met Ruto as self-seeking individuals who must be rejected by their voters at all costs.
