Tuesday, October 24, 2023 – Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has dared former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Azimio to quit the bipartisan negotiations with the government of President William Ruto, saying the Opposition will have itself to blame if that happens.
Speaking during the burial of Mzee Peter Gichuki in Nyeri County yesterday, Ndindi said the government was doing the Opposition a favor by engaging in talks with them.
“The other day, we saw the Opposition leaders in Kitengela purporting to give threats that they are going to walk out of the ongoing talks.
“We want to tell them it is even a favor that we are engaging in those talks, the citizens of Kenya have no time for those talks. The Kenyan people want all the leaders to do their job,” he stated.
The UDA MP went on to ask the Opposition leaders to focus on criticizing the government in a constructive manner.
“If you are in the opposition, you already have a job to criticize the government constructively. Please opposition leaders embark on that role,” he added.
On Sunday, Raila threatened not to sign the final bipartisan committee report if there is no provision to reduce the high cost of living.
He noted that the cost of living was high and demanded the return of fuel subsidy.
“There will be no signing of the bipartisan committee report if it doesn’t have a provision for the reduction of the cost of living,” Raila stated.
“We want the fuel VAT tax reduced from 16% to 8% where former President Uhuru Kenyatta left it,” he added.
