Tuesday, October 24, 2023 – Efforts by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to reconcile with former President Uhuru Kenyatta have hit a snag after the latter rejected talks terming them as a waste of time.
Last month, Gachagua said he is ready to reconcile with the former Head of State for the sake of unity in Mt Kenya.
Gachagua even went ahead and urged his supporters not to abuse the former President who was supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the last election.
However, according to one of the local dailies, Uhuru rejected a call by Gachagua to reconcile with him saying he could not reconcile with a person who had tormented his mother and son.
Early this year, Gachagua ordered the withdrawal of security belonging to Mama Ngina Kenyatta forcing Uhuru to hire private guards.
At the same time, Gachagua ordered goons to raid Uhuru’s Northlands Farm in Ruiru where they stole 1500 head of Dorper Sheep.
Months later, Gachagua ordered sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to raid Uhuru‘s son’s home in Karen where they claimed he had been renting unlicensed guns to Azimio One Kenya Alliance goons to attack police during the Azimio One Kenya Alliance demos.
