Sunday, January 14, 2024 – Homa Bay town Member of Parliament, Peter Kaluma, has been accused of receiving hefty bribes to have the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper released.
According to vocal Meru activist, Mike Makarina, Sniper’s murder case is being handled by Kaluma’s wife, who is a magistrate at Kiambu Law Courts.
Kaluma has already received the money to hand over to his wife and the suspects might be released on bond on Monday.
Makarina alleges that the money was given to Kaluma by Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
“ We have all the evidence and a CCTV footage of Kaluma receiving the money,” Makarina said.
Reacting to the video, city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi said, “Kenyans are fed-up with corrupt and unaccountable judiciary.
"And no one listens/address their grievances! SAD! The average Kenyan has totally lost confidence in our courts. They believe justice is for sale and brokers and judges/magistrates are having a feel day at their expense!
