It is all systems go as Interior CS KITHURE KINDIKI throws in the towel and allows Gen Z protests against Finance Bill – Look!

 Tuesday, June 25, 2024 – Gen Zs are now free to protest against President William Ruto’s contentious Finance Bill 2024.

This was revealed by Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, who announced that Kenyans who wish to protest can do so every day provided they adhere to the rule of law.

Speaking during a press briefing yesterday, the CS noted that each citizen had a right to demonstrate peacefully.

"Whatever the matter, the rule of law and public order must be maintained by all persons. 

"Those who wish to exercise their constitutional right can do so today, tomorrow, or every day because it is their right to do so.”

"But you must also adhere to the rule of law and they need to make sure that other members of the public who are not interested in what they are doing or hold a contrary view are not inconvenienced or harassed in any manner including the transportation of the people," Kindiki remarked.

The CS further warned against vandalism during the protests, adding that all protesters should remain unarmed while exercising their rights.

Kindiki added that the protesters should notify the police of their intent to demonstrate, including the routes they will follow during the exercise and the exercise must stop at sunset or 6:30 p.m.

“They must stop their activities at sunset or 6:30 pm, whichever is earlier, in accordance with the Public Order Act, Cap 57 of the laws of Kenya,” the CS noted.

He also maintained that protesters should not provoke, attack, or injure any law enforcement officer or members of the public.
