Friday, June 21, 2024 - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has vowed to punish Bondo Member of Parliament Gideon Ochada and his Suba South counterpart, Caroli Omondi, for supporting the Finance Bill 2024.
n a statement on Thursday evening, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the two MPs went against the party's principle of opposing the punitive bill.
“I celebrate the 115 Patriots who heeded the call of Kenyans and voted against the Finance Bill 2024. Know their names.
"As to the 204 who voted yes, I will leave to our new overlords, Gen Z, to do with as they please. As SG of ODM, I will be recommending to the Party NEC that we initiate recalls in one or two constituencies held by some of those who went against the wishes of the People,” Sifuna wrote on X.
Though the opposition tried to oppose the Bill in Parliament on Thursday, the government side managed 204 MPs voting to approve it against 115 who rejected it.
