Thursday, August 15, 2024 - New Miss SA, Mia Le Roux, has defended Chidinma Adetshina, following the controversy that trailed her participation at the South African beauty pageantry.
In a recent interview with Newzroom Afrika, newly crowned
Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, expressed her support for Chidinma Adetshina, a
fellow former contestant in the pageant, and called for unity among Africans.
Le Roux addressed the criticism and hate directed at
Adetshina, emphasizing that she deserved her place in the competition. "It
was extremely hard for us because each one of us personally knows and loves
Chichi. We truly believe that she did not deserve it, as we know she’s
phenomenal, powerful, and beautiful in her own right. She deserved her spot on
Miss South Africa,” Mia stated.
As the reigning Miss SA, Le Roux has made it clear that her
mission is to promote inclusivity and unity within the nation. "I stand
for unity. I do not stand for people being divided. So, I do think we can do
better in that aspect to support and include one another. Because she was
excluded, and that is not okay," she added.
Le Roux’s comments come in the wake of widespread criticism
and backlash directed at Adetshina during the competition.
