VIDEO shows the moment a car crashed into a home with family and pets inside (VIDEO)

Tuesday, September 3, 2024 - Home surveillance cameras captured the moment a car crashed into a Phoenix home, while members of the family and their pet were in there.

The shocking video was shared with 12News by Marcus Holmberg and Sabrina Rivera, who were inside their house at the time of the crash.

Holmberg and Rivera were eating dinner around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, August 30, when a Mustang came crashing into their living room.

"It was like a bomb went off," Holmberg said. "It comes smashing in and just it's there. It happened so quick. It was so explosive."

Holmberg, Rivera and their dogs narrowly missed being hit by the car.

"All of (the rubble) came flying at us at 30, 40, 50 miles per hour because that's how fast that car was going," Holmberg said.

Police said the driver was arrested and impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Dust and rubble filled the house. The entire structure suffered significant damage.

"It sent rubble all the way back here. There's rocks," Holmberg said. "This door does not close no more and there's a crack."

The couple has started a fundraising campaign to help pay for the damage to their property.

"We are just trying to survive," Holmberg said on a GoFundMe page. "We're asking for the bare minimum to get our home fixed and my truck repaired."

Holmberg and Rivera are stressed by the road ahead but said they're grateful they're still here to rebuild.

"That's the part that boggles my mind the most is just how on Earth did we get this lucky? And to me, I don't believe in that kind of luck. Someone was watching over us to protect us," Holmberg said.
