Actor LIAM NEESON says he's done with action movies

Thursday, October 24, 2024 - Liam Neeson, the legendary star of the Taken franchise, has announced his plans to step away from action films by 2025. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 72-year-old actor revealed that he feels it's time to stop making action-packed movies, stating, "I'm 72 -- it has to stop at some stage."

Known for performing many of his own fight scenes, Neeson acknowledged that while he uses a stunt double, Mark Vanselow, for the more intense moments, it’s becoming less believable for him to continue portraying action heroes at his age. "You can’t fool audiences," Liam said, adding that he doesn’t want to rely on his stunt double to carry out the bulk of the action sequences.

Interestingly, Neeson didn’t even become an action star until 2008, when he took on the role of a retired CIA agent with a "very particular set of skills" in Taken. He was 56 years old at the time but quickly became a household name in the genre.

As Liam prepares to close the chapter on his action career, he expressed satisfaction with how it turned out. However, he's not leaving Hollywood altogether. Neeson has diversified his acting portfolio and recently finished filming a reboot of the comedy Naked Gun, signaling that fans will continue to see him in other film genres.

Father Time might be undefeated, but Neeson's career remains impressive as he gracefully exits the action-packed stage.
