Wednesday, October 30, 2024 - Music producer Sam Pounds, who collaborated on Liam Payne’s final single, has decided to withhold the track's release just days after announcing it. The single, titled Do No Wrong, was set to be released this Friday but will remain unreleased, pending a decision from Payne’s family on if or when it should be made public.
Pounds, known for his work with artists like Jamie Foxx and Wiz Khalifa, shared on X, “Today I’m deciding to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).” He expressed his love for the track, acknowledging that it’s simply “not the time yet” as Payne’s loved ones continue to mourn, adding, “We will all wait.”
Initially, Pounds hoped the single could “be a blessing to
the world,” honoring Payne’s legacy. However, he later retracted his posts
about the release, feeling the timing might be too soon after Payne’s tragic
death.
Payne, a key member of the former boy band One Direction,
contributed to five chart-topping albums with the group and released his solo
album LP1 in 2019. His final TV project, a Netflix singing
competition series titled Building the Band, remains on hold as the
entertainment world and Payne's family process his sudden passing.
Liam Payne is survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen, his
sisters Ruth and Nicola, and his 7-year-old son, Bear.
