Actor JOHN KRASINSKI named People magazine's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive

Wednesday, November 13, 2024 - American actor and filmmaker, John Krasinski has been named People’s 2024 “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Stephen Colbert made the surprise announcement on his talk show, with Krasinksi taking the crown from Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, who won last year.

“I’m so proud to see my my friend, go from goofy, lovable boy next door to big, dumb sex hunk,” Colbert said.

Reacting to his win in a video interview with People, Krasinski confessed it was a little unexpected.

"Just immediate blackout, so the brain just turned off actually," said the Jack Ryan star. "Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I'm being punked.

"After that it was just a false reality. That's not how I wake up, usually, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys really raised the bar for me."

Krasinski, 45, said his actress wife Emily Blunt was "very excited" that he had been chosen for the honor.

"There was a lot of joy involved," he said. "But I do think it's going to make me do more household chores but I am willing to take the cons with the pros to be honest with you. I think after the cover comes out she'll be like, 'All right, that means you're going to really earn it here at home.'"

He also quipped that the decision would puzzle his brothers and would probably be a big talking point at Thanksgiving. He joked that they would probably "wonder how this is possible" for years.

Krasinski is known for playing Jim Halpert in The Office from 2005 to 2013 and starred as Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime series. He and Blunt have been married since 2010 and they share two daughters—Hazel, 10, and eight-year-old Violet.
