Monday, February 21, 2022 – Kitui County Governor, Charity Ngilu has blasted Deputy President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance team for asking the government to lower the prices of basic commodities.
Ruto, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula held a presser on Monday, where they asked President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to intervene and help Kenyans because they are suffering due to astronomical food prices.
However, reacting to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presser, Ngilu argued that Ruto cannot claim to defend Kenyans now over the high inflation rate in the country, while previously he was the one who supported the passage of high petroleum products levy.
Ngilu even shared a newspaper publication where the second in command was quoted defending the 8 percent tax increase in petroleum products, saying it is good for Kenyan and it does not increase the prices of common goods.
Here is what Ngilu wrote.
