Sunday, February 13, 2022 – An outspoken United Democratic Alliance allied Member of Parliament was chased out of his constituency after he tried to market Deputy President William Ruto‘s wheelbarrow manifesto.
The incident happened on Saturday after Lunga Lunga MP, Khatib Mwashetani, went to his constituency to drum up support for Ruto’s Bottom-up economic model and also to campaign for his re-election in August.
However, when he landed in his Constituency, angry residents failed to listen to him and told him off, saying he has neglected them for 10 years while in the government.
They blamed him for a poor track record and trashed the “wheelbarrow” politics, stating that he should go elsewhere to sell his political agenda.
“Tumechoka na hatutaki mambo ya wheelbarrow, peleka huko Msambweni,” the angry residents told the MP.
However, many Kenyans have claimed that this was expected as most parts of the Coastal region are former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s political strongholds.
