Thursday, 10 February 2022 – Nyali detectives have intercepted and detained two motor vehicles that were used by a gang of hoodlums three days ago in a car-breaking incident.
Hawk-eyed sleuths that have been hot on the trail of a suspected delinquent ring intercepted the two vehicles on diverse locations within the city, hoping to net therein members of the gang that broke into a Toyota Prado at the Nyali City Mall.
However, the detectives established that seated behind the wheels at the time were loyal and peace-loving Kenyan citizens, who had separately hired the vehicles to use in running personal errands within the coastal suburbs.
Further investigations revealed that on the fateful day when the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) vehicle was broken into, the intercepted cars had been hired out to different persons who turned out to be felons.
Valuables worth over Sh700,000 had been stolen in the Sunday morning incident, and detectives have been pursuing the perpetrators captured in CCTV footages obtained along the mall.
The car hire agencies affected have since been summoned at the Nyali DCI offices, as the manhunt for the suspects continue.
