Wednesday, March 16, 2022 – Jubilee Party Vice-chairman, David Murathe has finally predicted the number of votes the former Prime Minister will garner during the August 9th Presidential election.
The high-stakes election is turning out to be a two-horse race between Raila Odinga and youthful Deputy President William Ruto.
Raila is marketing himself through Azimio La Umoja Movement while Ruto is using the hustler narrative to endear himself to the masses.
Murathe, who is among a dozen of Mt Kenya leaders who are supporting Raila Odinga, said he is confident that Raila will form the next government.
He told Citizen TV on Tuesday that he is confident that Raila Odinga will garner 64 percent of votes during the election.
“In this election, I can assure you of how Raila will get 64 percent. Mt Kenya will give Raila more votes than what he will get in his native Nyanza,” he said.
At the same time, he said Raila’s win is not pegged on the political direction the Mt Kenya region will take.
The Jubilee Vice-Chair said the ODM leader has kept his former support bases intact and that means the votes he will get from the Mt Kenya region will serve as a top-up.
He implored the Mt Kenya region to back Raila, saying they better support him for the top seat because he is the likely candidate to win.
