Wednesday, March 16, 2022 – Mathira Member of Parliament, Rigathi Gachagua, has poked holes in an opinion poll conducted by Radio Africa that showed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga leading and Deputy President William Ruto trailing badly.
The opinion poll that was made public on Tuesday, showed that if elections were held today, Raila would win with 47.4 percent against Ruto’s 43.4 percent.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka emerged third with 1.9 percent while KANU Chairman Gideon Moi came fourth with 0.5 percent.
Reacting to the poll, Gachagua, who is a close ally of Ruto, urged Kenyans to ignore the opinion poll since it was sponsored by ‘deep state’ to create a perception that Raila Odinga is ahead of the second in command in the presidential race.
“There is no way Tinga (Raila) would have overtaken us in national popularity.
“If you look at the way leaders have been crossing over to Kenya Kwanza, scientifically speaking, it would not be possible to conclude that Raila has moved ahead of us,” Gachagua stated.
“We know that there is a deliberate campaign to rate Raila highly to sway public perception that he is ahead,” Gachagua added.
