Thursday, March 17, 2022 – Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has sensationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto is not mentally stable.
This follows his temperamental speech at Kasarani on Tuesday, where he lost his cool and went after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, accusing them of all sorts of things.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Kioni challenged Ruto to resign as the country’s second in command, saying he is mentally unstable.
According to the Ndaragua Member of Parliament, Ruto has turned out to be a ‘temperamental person’ and therefore unfit to hold any public office.
“If the deputy president is so unhappy with the things that are happening in the government, he should resign.
I don’t want to doubt his mental capacity but that is also one of the grounds that are available in the constitution for you to resign,” Ruto said.
Kioni further stated that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential flag bearer in the August 9 General Election belongs to two political parties.
“He should do the honorable thing and resign. In any case, even the constitution says that you cannot belong to two (political) parties and be a member of the executive and especially occupy the office of the deputy president,” he said.
Kioni’s remarks were echoed by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, who wondered why Ruto was criticizing the government from within, urging him to be a man enough and resign.
“With humility, get out of the government and campaign against Azimio la Umoja,” Arati said.
According to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the Deputy President may be removed from office on the ground of physical or mental incapacity to perform the functions of the office; or on impeachment.
