Wednesday, March 16, 2022 – All is not well for Deputy President William Ruto following the latest move by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner, Raila Odinga, to convince Agriculture CS Peter Munya not to challenge Kiraitu Murungi for the Meru gubernatorial seat.
This was confirmed by UDA MP Isaac Mwaura, who revealed that Ruto was banking on the fallout and the rivalry between Munya and Kiraitu to win over the seat.
According to Mwaura, the Azimio fallout in Meru was to be a big blessing for the United Democratic Alliance party but was ruined thanks to Uhuru and Raila.
Speaking during a TV debate, Mwaura confessed they had reliable information that in the event of a contest, CS Munya enjoyed massive and formidable support enough to shake Kiraitu Murungi.
Regretting the eventual turn of events, Mwaura revealed that talks between them and Kiraitu had already reached an advanced stage but crashed into a dead end after Munya withdrew from the gubernatorial race.
In Mwaura’s own admission, this single incident sucked all the motivation that Kiraitu had to continue with any discussions whatsoever.
According to him, Kiraitu now had a path as good as a walkover since no opponent of Munya’s stature threatened him.
Mwaura also insinuated that this is what informed Meru senator Mithika Linturi’s decision to run for governor.
