Wednesday, March 16, 2022 – Deputy President William Ruto’s big day went down as planned, but not without some misgivings.
Ruto was accompanied to the Kasarani event by his beautiful family except for his firstborn son Nick Ruto, who would ordinarily be by his father’s side by virtue of being the firstborn son and a lawyer.
While introducing his family during the event, Ruto said that his son could not attend the historical event because he was denied time off from work.
“Hapa pamoja na mimi ni rafiki yangu, the lover of my life, mama Rachel Ruto. Pia tumekuja na watoto wawili ambao wanawakilisha wale wengine,” the DP said.
“I apologise my son Nick did not get permission from his place of work. He works in a law firm and he did not get permission,” he added.
The DP’s daughters June Ruto and Charlene Ruto attended the event.
The event had sumptuous performances as the delegates danced to various tunes.
Starehe MP Charles Njagua moved the delegates into dance as the musician-turned-politician performed his ‘Kigeugeu’ hit.
Chants of ‘Uhuru kigeugeu’ could be heard from the background. Meanwhile, in his speech, the DP hit out at the Jubilee Government for forgetting its original plan during its second term.
