Friday, February 10, 2023 – Nominated MP Sabina Chege and a host of Jubilee legislators who dumped Raila Odinga’s Azimio on Wednesday after meeting President William Ruto at State House now believe the president has gone too far.
This is after they told Ruto to back off former President Uhuru Kenyatta and let him enjoy his retirement in peace.
Speaking during Wednesday’s meeting at State House, the over 30 Jubilee rebel MPs implored the Head of State to stop hounding Uhuru in the guise of fighting tax evaders.
They even assured the president that they will not attend Raila Odinga’s protest rallies if he will stop fighting Uhuru.
The lawmakers also distanced Uhuru from the organisation of Raila’s protest rallies.
Ruto plans to secure an absolute majority in the National Assembly and blunt the impact of Raila’s rebellion after managing to convince over 40 MPs both from Jubilee and ODM to dump Azimio and join the government.
