Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – Former Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, has cleared the air on whether he has gone into exile for being persecuted by President William Ruto’s regime.
Matiang’i left the country on February 19 using a KLM plane and many suspected he had gone into exile since he was among a few former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s confidantes who were being targeted by Ruto‘s theocratic regime.
However, speaking on Wednesday through his lawyer, Dunstan Omari, Matiangi denied going into exile and said he had travelled to London for a private family function.
“My client travelled to London, United Kingdom for a private family function. He will be there for two weeks,” Omari told journalists.
If Omari’s statement is anything to go by, then it means Matiangi will be back in the country in the next two weeks where he is expected to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to answer all questions regarding the alleged police raid at his Karen home last month.
