Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has revealed how President William Ruto begged him to create an Office of Opposition Leader for him if he won the August 9, 2022, presidential election.
In an interview with KTN on Tuesday night, Raila who is also the Orange Democratic Movement party leader revealed that Ruto contacted him through several envoys and told him to create an office of the opposition leader since he was very sure he had no chance of winning the election.
“Ruto didn’t foresee his victory and he reportedly told the envoys that he wanted to become a strong opposition leader,” Raila said.
However, as luck would have it, Ruto won the presidential seat and wanted to reciprocate his earlier request to Raila. Odinga criticized the move by Ruto to write to the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula seeking to have the position created.
Raila said he didn’t want the position because Ruto rigged the election.
