MARTHA KARUA reveals why she doesn’t support the ongoing bipartisan talks at the BOMAS OF KENYA.

Tuesday, October 24, 2023 – Narc Kenya Chairperson, Martha Karua, has revealed the reason why she doesn’t support the ongoing bipartisan talks at the Bomas of Kenya.

The talks are an initiative by President William Ruto and Azimio One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga to try to calm political temperatures as a result of the disputed 2022 presidential election.

In an interview with one of the local TV stations on Tuesday, Karua noted that any serious talks should not take more than 30 days, adding that President William Ruto’s regime is buying time.

“I am deeply disappointed that we keep on moving the time and deadline for the Bipartisan talks. Initially, Azimio had called for 30 days only, they should have ended by 30th August. Then came the talks which then moved it by 60 days, now again it’s been shifted by another 30 days to November.

“Any serious talks would not take more than 30 days. I have been involved in talks, I was involved in Inter-Parties Parliamentary Group (IPPG), we took a record two weeks and we did constitutional and legal amendments and this was an ad-hoc committee of parliament,” Karua stated.

She added,” Where there is the commitment of the regime, talks should never exceed a month, where you see a regime bringing its on issues which were not subject of the demonstrations, know that they are buying time. The Ruto regime needs time, Kenyans need action.”

Karua seemed to suggest that they were dealing with slippery characters in President Ruto’s regime and urged Azimio to be cautious.
