Monday, October 23, 2023 – A cloud of darkness now hangs in the Mt Kenya region after details emerged that President William Ruto has entered into a secret deal with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Mt Kenya region is considered to be against any political truce between Ruto and Raila Odinga.
However, according to multiple sources, Ruto and Raila Odinga entered into a secret handshake and this was the reason why CS Moses Kuria was reassigned from the Ministry of Trade and Industry to the Ministry of Public Service and Government Coordination, and CS Alice Wahome was shifted from the Ministry of Water to the Ministry of Land.
Following these adjustments, some politicians claimed that President Ruto was neglecting the Mount Kenya region, particularly after promoting Musalia Mudavadi, the Leader of Ministers, to the role of Foreign Affairs Minister.
Nyeri County Governor, Mutahi Kahiga, suggested that these changes appeared to favor and enhance the Western region while reducing the influence of the Mount Kenya region.
“Without a doubt, these changes favored the Western region. It’s a direction that has raised questions among us as leaders from the Mount region,” said Mr. Kahiga, who is a close associate of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
As a result of these statements and developments, some leaders and political analysts from the region believe that this direction strongly implies that President Ruto may have already entered into a discreet ‘handshake’ with Mr. Odinga and now the former Premier is controlling the President like a marionette.
