RAILA ODINGA says the incident where NTV journalists were assaulted by ‘Men in Black’ during the Azimio rally will be investigated.

Friday, March 18, 2022 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has condemned an unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday, where the NTV crew were roughed up and chased away from the Azimio La Umoja Movement rally in Dagoretti, Nairobi, on Thursday.

In the incident, the NTV news reporter Martin Mwangi, cameraman Shamanson Onsiago and driver Simon Ashiko were approached by ‘men in black’ who roughed them up and forced them out of the event, without a proper reason.

One of the guys who identified himself as a security officer in charge of the Azimio rallies told the journalists to leave the event, further claiming that the crew had also occupied a spot that was preserved for another media house.

Raila Odinga’s press secretary, Dennis Onsarigo, issued a statement condemning the incident, pledging a further investigation into the matter.

“We hope that this incident will never happen again. Not only to NTV journalists but to all members of the media especially now when we are edging closer to the August 9 polls,” Onsarigo said.
